  • Provides expert art instruction to over 600 students (per school year) in the Mountain View, Cupertino, and San Jose Unified School Districts,

  • Develops and implements lesson plans defining art standards and objectives, utilizing age appropriate materials, and focusing on relevant topics.

  • Introduce topical lessons on past and contemporary art and artists including Wayne Thiebaud, Georgia O’Keefe, Andy Warhol, Hung Liu, Roy de Forest, M.C. Escher, Gustav Klimpt, Frida Kahlo, Giorgio Morandi, Joan Miro, Alexander Calder and more. 

  • Responsible for organizing and maintaining art supplies and equipment at each school site.

  • Selects, organizes, and displays student artwork for school and community art shows.

  • Classroom presentation of clay construction, glazing, and firing methods.

  • Prepared lesson plans and established course goals.

  • Observed and evaluated student’s work to determine student’s progress or to make suggestions for improvement.

  • Assisted students in developing their creativity and self-expression through various methods of building with clay and a variety of glazing and surface treatments.

 

2000-2012           

Teaching Artist (Seasonal), River Glen School, San Jose, CA.

Created a bilingual art curriculum for this (K-8) Spanish immersion school that included units in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, collage, and ceramics for every age group represented at the school.

  • Conducted weekly classroom presentation of the elements of art and principles of design for grades K-8th.

  • Increased the scope of the art program from a few classes to encompassing the entire student body, from K through 8th grade.

  • Organized and produced a yearly student art show with the help of a parent volunteer group.

  • Budgeted, managed, purchased, and inventoried art supplies and equipment.

  • Key contributions: The art program complemented and supported River Glen’s mission of imparting a double immersion bilingual education.                  

 

1993-1998

  • Presentation of art techniques, concepts, and processes to children, teenagers, and adults through the Museum’s on site, outreach, and summer art programs.
